Piano Lessons

My name is Charles Lumpkins and I have over 20 years of experience teaching piano privately to students of all ages and skill levels. Approaching each student as an individual, I try to work with his or her musical interests and current level of ability. I have taught classical, jazz, and various other styles.

I also have performance experience, both as a soloist (classical music recitals and pop/jazz/rock/folk music in small venues), and a member of a band (swing jazz ensemble, funk and soul band, and an acoustic rock duo). Other relevant teaching experiences are 4 semesters of small group piano instruction in a middle school (CLC Charter School in State College PA), and 2 semesters of small group piano instruction at an elementary school (State College Area Friends School).

Illness

1.) Please wash hands or use hand sanitizer before playing instruments at the studio.

3.) If anyone in the student's household is sick, or feeling unwell, please mask (not just for suspected COVID exposure). As a solo independent   business owner who is immunocompromised it is deeply appreciated.

4.) If the student themself is sick or feeling unwell. Please contact me and we will discuss how to proceed. Most likely I will ask to consider an online lesson or simply cancel.

*As a person who has gotten sick a lot over the course my life and now as a father of little ones with developing immune systems, I hate to penalize anyone on account of illness and will happily credit lesson payments towards the following month. :-)
